  • Smart Growth policies and how Summerland can adopt and implement
  • Special wildlife habitats, Species at Risk mapping, wetlands and corridors

Well that's it so far, folks. A big Thank-you to all those who contributed ideas and participated in the discussions. However, this list is in no way exhaustive. If you have more ideas, please send them as a comment. And now we need help in turning these ideas into action. If you can help in any way, please contact me! Thanks again and see you at the Open House, May 4th!

1 Comments:

  • I accidentally took the report from the “Fundraising Committee” home with me and as a result our suggestions were missed. We (Dave, Vicky, Henri and I) came up with the following ideas:
    1. Eventual incorporation into a non-profit society (this could take about a year if we start now) which will be able to receive donations and issue tax receipts.
    2. For start-up funds we could approach local industries, BCFGA, grape producers, environmental organizations, fish and game club, etc.
    3. Hold dinners with guest speakers.
    4. Garage sales
    5. Benefit concerts

Of course, if each of the first 50 people who have joined would get another 10 people each then we would have 500 new members with an income of $4500 from membership fees alone. Let’s go for it.
