MLA Not Receiving Input On ALR Removal Applications
During our meeting this morning, MLA Rick Thorpe said that his office has not received complaints from the general public about the applications made by Council to remove large blocks of land from the ALR for development purposes. Understandably he therefore disputed our claim that a large percentage of the voters in Summerland oppose these applications.
It might appear to regular members that the Board can be relied upon to fully represent them. Not so, the Board can only do so much. Please help by taking the following actions:

- Drop in to Rick's office and to City Hall and let them know how you feel about the ALR applications and the golf course development approval process.
- Write to your MLA and to City Hall.
- Write to the Agricultural Land Commission.
- Write a letter to your favourite newspaper.
- E mail or, better still, speak directly to a Councillor.

One more thought. Your Board is fighting an uphill battle here, and desperately needs the support of the general membership. We are an Association of volunteers, meeting our expenses out of our own pockets. We can only "compete" with the active support of our large and growing membership. Please do what you can for the future of Summerland
